Versailles council adopts emergency appropriation amendment and authorizes wastewater VFD replacements

The Versailles Village Council adopted Ordinance No. 24‑59 as an emergency amendment to the 2024 Annual Appropriation Ordinance and approved purchases and services to replace Variable Frequency Drives at the village wastewater treatment plant.

Village Attorney Tom Guillozet read Ordinance No. 24‑59 by title, and the council voted to suspend the rules and adopt the ordinance as an emergency. Mr. Steinbrunner, a council member, moved to accept the measure; Mr. Weaver seconded and the motion carried with unanimous votes from council members present.

Following the ordinance action, the council authorized the Village Administrator to purchase replacement VFD equipment from Kahle Technologies, Inc. at a cost of $54,707, and separately to contract Kahle for related professional services at a cost of $23,400. Mr. Steinbrunner made the motion to authorize the equipment purchase; Ms. Shaffer seconded. Mr. Weaver moved and council approved the professional services contract. All votes were recorded as "all yeas."

The purchases are listed in the Village’s 2024 Capital Improvement Plan and were presented to the council as capital items needed to maintain wastewater treatment operations. The ordinance amendment provides the appropriation authority needed to fund these and other year‑end adjustments.

No members of the public registered objections during the meeting. Village staff will prepare the purchase orders and related legislation as required by the village’s procurement procedures, and the council did not place additional conditions on the contracts during the meeting.
