Vermillion County commissioners approved several procurement and consultant items during their June 12 meeting, and deferred three Apex-related economic-agreement items until a future meeting with all commissioners present.
The board approved an engagement letter from counsel (Shagley) to assist with Duke IGA and Apex solar agreements. It authorized the release of bid documents for Bridge 71 (the covered bridge adjacent to the Eugene Covered Bridge restaurant). The board approved financial-planning agreements with Baker Tilly to assist with county fiscal planning in light of Senate Bill 1, and it approved a consulting agreement for Christy Durell to pursue OCCRA funding for an ambulance station and a separate architectural services agreement with Arcatura Plus to support design and bidding.
Commissioners moved to table three Apex agreements (an economic development agreement, a road-use agreement and a decommissioning agreement) until Commissioner Peebles could participate in the discussion at the next meeting. Chair said the items will return when the full board can review them.
Next steps: county staff will finalize and record approved engagement letters, publish Bridge 71 bid documents as authorized, and work with contractors and consultants to advance ambulance-station design and Baker Tilly's financial planning work. Apex agreements will be considered at a future meeting.
