Fairview Park committee raises questions about Haber Drive outreach and city involvement

The Shade Tree Advisory Committee discussed the Haber Drive tree project at its Jan. 16 meeting but took no final action on a draft letter to property owners.
Kim Mann said she understood the process for contacting property owners would be independent of the city and said she would request a clarifying letter from Brian Hitch. Doug MacMillan asked the committee to obtain a written clarification from the city about responsibility and whether city letterhead or the committee’s city email account should be used to communicate with owners; the minutes record that questions remained and that more discussion is required at the next meeting.
Mike Varga requested that the committee specify which trees should be planted; because he was absent the committee agreed to revisit tree selection at the next meeting. Kim Mann said she understood that Mike would follow ODNR guidelines in selecting species.
The committee did not adopt the draft letter or set a timeline for outreach during the meeting; members recorded the item for further discussion at a subsequent meeting.
