Waite Hill authorizes up to $115,000 for skid steer and pickup to replace aging Service Department vehicles

The Waite Hill Village Council authorized the Service Department to buy a track skid steer and a crew cab pickup truck at a combined cost not to exceed $115,000, voting unanimously on Dec. 8.
Council member Richard Steudel moved to authorize the purchases under state-bid pricing, and Council member Stephanie Winterer seconded. The motion passed by unanimous roll call. The administration will report back on actual purchase prices if the purchases are made.
Service Director Bob Haynik told council the existing skid steer loader and quad-cab pickup are at the end of their service lives. Estimated replacement costs were presented as roughly $44,000 for the pickup and $66,000 for the skid steer, for a combined estimate of about $110,000. Council members also noted that a retrofitted salt garage cost approximately $30,000 versus a previously budgeted $150,000, freeing funds in the 2025 budget that made the purchase feasible.
The Clerk-Treasurer’s office also noted a need to purchase a new printer/copier in 2026; no vote on that item was recorded at the Dec. 8 meeting.
