Select Board approves Under Canvas liquor license, renews lawn contracts and approves warrants; LPI resignation prompts hiring search

The Select Board on May 6 unanimously approved a liquor license renewal for Under Canvas after a public hearing (motion by Nick Noddin; second by Pat Kane).
The board also approved two summer lawn-care contracts: Shane Cox will continue maintenance at Memorial Park and Osgood Field under updated specifications, and Darcel and Reggie Winslow will continue cemetery maintenance. Pat Kane requested copies of the contracts for review at the next work session.
Phil Roberts, representing the Toddy Pond Association, presented a donation to Chief Bryan McLellan and the Surry Fire Department. The board acknowledged the town’s active volunteers; Cathy Engel reported that the recent roadside cleanup and town picnic organized by SCIA involved 58 volunteers, including six Surry children and eight participants from Under Canvas.
Board members reported that the licensed plumbing inspector (LPI) has resigned. The board discussed hiring a temporary state-certified LPI to provide coverage and said they have a potential candidate to meet with at a future session.
Finally, the board approved payroll and several accounts-payable warrants — payroll warrant #75 for $11,160.27; accounts payable warrants #76 for $77,534.20 and #78 for $4,000.00; and electronic payment warrant #77 for $107,190.14 (which includes school warrants) — on a unanimous vote (motion by Pat Kane; second by Nick Noddin). The meeting adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
