Special Events Trustee Loretta J. Teets told the Board that Music in the Park was a success, drawing approximately 350 attendees, and thanked volunteers including Trustee Simplisio Roman for assistance with bands. She announced the Halloween event on Oct. 31 will again be held as a drive-thru because construction at the Stone Park Entertainment Complex continues.
Public Works Director Jessica Ramirez reported crews set up and cleaned the grounds after the Music in the Park event; weed killer was applied throughout town. Ramirez said she reported outages on the 1700 and 1800 blocks of 33rd, 34th and 35th Avenues to the Building Commissioner; ComEd repaired the problem within two hours after a trouble ticket was escalated. Ramirez also reported delivery of bottles to residents for the EPA-required second round of water samples. She said contractors began the first phase of alley resurfacing by grinding alleys from North Avenue to Soffel Avenue, and crews replaced a damaged B-box at 1541 N. 43rd Avenue.
Office Manager Aracely Gutierrez said the Chandelier Room at the Entertainment Complex is available for Pancakes with Santa and has better ADA access and parking; trustees agreed to move Pancakes with Santa to the Chandelier Room and keep the Senior Luncheon at the Village Hall Banquet Hall.
