Public Works Director Jessica Ramirez told the Board that on Oct. 16 a departmental trailer previously used for village events was stolen from Public Works Building #2; the incident has been reported and the department is working with the police department on an investigation. Ramirez also reported routine maintenance: tree trimming in Mazzulla Park, crushed stone placed at the Italian Cultural Center in preparation for asphalt installation, removal of seasonal flowers along Mannheim Road and Halloween decorations ready for Oct. 31 events.
Director of Public Safety Chris Pavini said Luis Vasquez, who has served as a part‑time officer since Dec. 13, 2022, would be sworn in during the Board meeting. Pavini also reported the purchase of six helmets (riot gear) and said Commander Sarabia obtained a grant through the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) for $20,375.60 to purchase six tasers; the minutes list the actual price of the tasers as $19,704.00. Officer Vacari was reported assigned full‑time to the Illinois Statewide Auto Theft Task Force (ISATT) for a three‑year detail.
