Police Chief David Pernice reviewed the May 2024 report at the June 25 council meeting and updated council on operational matters.
Chief Pernice reported that neighboring departments told him the Corry golf scramble raised about $16,000 and Warren’s event raised about $18,000 to $20,000; he said he would check with Union City Country Club for comparable local figures. For the upcoming French Creek Festival, the chief said Erie County Detectives agreed to fund overtime and 2–3 officers from the Erie County Courthouse will provide additional coverage; he has also requested increased coverage from Corry PSP but had not received a response at the time of the minutes.
On internal administration, Chief Pernice said he is completing a background check required by Civil Service rules (anticipated by July 5, 2024) and is working with Lexipol to update department policies, removing policies that are not needed; the department is awaiting the solicitor’s review of the revisions.
