Dedham selectmen approve minutes, reports, warrants and tax abatements; table tax-forgiveness request

The Dedham Selectmen voted on routine administrative items and financial actions at their April 2, 2026 meeting, approving minutes, accepting staff reports and authorizing multiple warrants and property tax abatements while deferring a request to forgive a personal property tax bill.
The board adopted the minutes of the March 5, 2026 Selectmen’s Meeting in a recorded vote that the minutes list as “Rick/Paul” (motion recorded with a 3–0–0 tally). The same mover/second shorthand appears elsewhere in the minutes and corresponds to the roll-call names listed at the start of the meeting: Richard Leavitt and Paul Miller.
Fire Chief Zack Cronkhite provided a department report and Michelle Fish presented the Treasurer’s report; the board voted to accept those reports as presented.
The minutes list a set of warrants—2026-89 through 2026-97—which the board approved “as prepared.” Later in the meeting the board approved abatements for the property at 360 Lakeview Avenue for three tax years: $3,775.30 for 2023, $4,207.03 for 2024 and $4,749.04 for 2025, a combined reduction of $12,731.37. The motion to approve the abatements is recorded as Paul/ Rick with a 3–0–0 tally.
A request from Connie Fleming of Fleming Construction seeking forgiveness of a personal property tax bill was not decided. The minutes state the matter was tabled so Treasurer/Deputy Town Clerk Michelle Fish can check how the town of Bucksport handles older personal property accounts and consult with RJD before returning the issue to the Selectmen.
The meeting included routine announcements: the Budget Committee will meet immediately after the Selectmen’s meeting; nomination papers are available for one Selectboard seat and one Schoolboard seat and are due April 11, 2026; tentative dates listed for town proceedings are a public hearing on May 7, 2026 and Town Meeting on June 11, 2026.
The Selectmen adjourned at 17:50.
