The Dedham Board of Selectmen met Oct. 9, 2025, and approved routine financial and administrative items while agreeing to study a new community-run youth recreation program and denying a poverty abatement request.
The board convened at 5:29 p.m.; Roll call listed Selectmen Timothy Scribner, Paul Miller and Richard Leavitt. The board recorded a motion to adopt the minutes of the Sept. 4 special town meeting and Selectmen’s meeting (mover: Selectman Paul Miller; seconder: Selectman Timothy Scribner); the minutes show that motion recorded a 2/0/0 vote.
Officials announced that the first half of 2025 taxes are due Oct. 20. The board accepted reports presented by Fire Chief Zack Cronkhite and Alexandria Treworgy (listed as CEO/LPI); that motion passed 3–0.
The board approved a set of warrants listed in the minutes (2026-25 through 2026-34) and approved abatements and supplements as presented (vote recorded 3–0 on each motion). The minutes show a motion agreeing to move forward with planning for a youth recreation program proposed by a group of parents, teachers and friends of Dedham’s youth; that motion passed by a 3–0 vote. Residents from Green Lake Road requested that the town ask the Maine Department of Transportation to reconsider the speed limit on Green Lake Road; the minutes record that no action was taken on that request.
The board entered executive session to discuss a poverty abatement application and afterward voted to deny a poverty abatement request in the amount of $2,421.71 for 2024 taxes (mover: Selectman Richard Leavitt; seconder: Selectman Paul Miller; vote recorded 3–0). The meeting adjourned at 6:05 p.m. The meeting record was signed 'Respectfully submitted, Michelle C. Fish, Deputy Town Clerk.'
