Dedham selectmen approve 2025 tax commitment, road shim and sale-by-bid for old rescue truck

The Dedham Board of Selectmen met Sept. 4, 2025, and voted to approve certificates to commit 2025 taxes for Dedham and Lucerne, authorize sale of the town’s old rescue truck by public bid, accept department reports and approve a shim along Upper Dedham Road.

Paul Miller moved to adopt the Aug. 21 meeting minutes; Selectman Timothy Scribner seconded and the motion passed 2-0-0. The board then heard an announcement that 2025 tax bills are expected to be mailed around Sept. 20, 2025.

Fire Chief Zack Cronkhite presented the department report and asked whether the board supported retiring the old rescue truck via public bid. The board agreed that selling the vehicle by bid was the preferred path forward. Cronkhite also reported there is remaining electrical work for a fire station addition and said he will continue work on that project.

Reports from Cronkhite and Alexandria Treworgy, CEO/LPI, were accepted on a motion by Miller and second from Scribner, passed 2-0-0. The board approved a slate of warrants (listed in the meeting packet) on the same 2-0-0 vote.

Under assessors’ business, the board voted 2-0-0 to approve certificates committing 2025 taxes for Dedham and Lucerne, with September 20, 2025 noted as the date for those commitments. The board reviewed paving quotes and approved a motion to apply a shim along the entire length of Upper Dedham Road; that motion passed 2-0-0.

The meeting was adjourned at 18:08. The deputy town clerk’s minutes note the actions above; Richard Leavitt was recorded as excused at roll call.
