The refuse truck order is timed now to secure a guarantee on trade‑in value and to avoid higher maintenance costs as packer trucks age; delivery is scheduled for 2027.
Finance staff said purchases will be funded from the city’s equipment internal service fund. Council members asked whether future buy‑versus‑lease analyses should be brought to the public for discussion; staff said they would consider bringing that back for broader discussion.
Council approved both resolutions by roll call.
Staff also noted a trend of rising equipment purchase prices and cautioned that the city may need to update equipment budgeting assumptions.
