Denmark select board to decide Feb. 10 on proposed transfer station schedule change

The Town Manager told the board that transfer station attendant Steve asked the select board to move the facility’s open days to Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday so the attendant would have two consecutive days off. Board members discussed logistical issues and outreach, and said they would post proposed changes on the town website and on-site signage to give residents notice and an opportunity to comment at the Feb. 10 meeting.
Board members stressed the need to phase in the change and watch for operational problems. They discussed possible impacts including dumpster fill timing and third‑party pickup schedules, and noted that the town relies on contracted haulers that may need to adjust. The board agreed to give at least four weeks’ public notice before the proposed March 1 start date to allow residents time to respond.
If the board approves the schedule at the Feb. 10 meeting the manager said the town will change the sign at the transfer station and publish the new hours online. The board also said it can postpone or reverse the change if unforeseen problems arise after implementation.
