The Wapello County Board of Supervisors approved the county's 2025'2045 Comprehensive Plan on June 2, 2026 by passing Resolution No. 21-2026. The board opened a public hearing, received a brief presentation from planning consultant MSA, heard no written or verbal public comments, closed the hearing and voted "All ayes" to adopt the plan.
Why it matters: The comprehensive plan sets long-range goals and policy guidance for land use, transportation, housing and economic development across Wapello County through 2045. Local officials said the plan is intended to guide future decision-making and is available on the county website for public review.
At the meeting, Supervisor Bryan Ziegler moved to open the hearing and Vice Chair Carrie Teninty seconded. After MSA's presentation and no public comments, Teninty moved to close the hearing; Teninty then moved, seconded by Ziegler, to adopt Resolution No. 21-2026. The board voted unanimously to approve the resolution.
Next steps: The adopted plan will serve as policy guidance for county and municipal actions; the board indicated no immediate implementing ordinance was passed at the June 2 meeting.
