Eagle Scout completes Mount Hope Park improvements, board presents certificate

Vincent, an Eagle Scout, presented his completed service project for Mount Hope Park to the Mount Hope Town Board on June 15. The project added 11 birdhouses (including wood duck and bluebird boxes), geocaches and interpretive signs describing birds that live in the park.
Vincent told the board he sourced materials at cost from Everson Lumber Company, built the houses at home, and completed installation in a single work day. "Overall I think the thing was a great success," he said, describing wood duck boxes placed near the pond, three cardinal houses and additional shelters along the gravel trail that connects the school entrance to the town garage area.
Board members thanked Vincent and presented him with a certificate recognizing the Eagle Scout project and its contribution to the park. The project was described as complementary to other recent habitat and trail efforts in the same area.
The board asked staff to coordinate display of the interpretive signs and to share the geocache locations with the school for potential educational use.
