Salem Township Board of Supervisors authorizes tractor bid specifications and schedules advertising

The Salem Township Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on Feb. 11, 2026 to advertise for bids to acquire a tractor that meets specific minimum standards and to set the schedule for advertisement, bid opening and award. The motions were made by Supervisor Bob Zundel and seconded by Supervisor Todd Paulich.

The board said it would prefer to purchase a brand-new tractor with a boom mower but acknowledged that was not in the township’s budget for 2026. Instead, the board approved advertising for used or newer equipment that meets the following minimum specifications: model year 2008 or newer; equipped with a boom mower; at least 105 horsepower; fewer than 5,000 hours of use; documented good condition with service records; and available for immediate use.

Under the approved schedule, the bid advertisement will run in the Penn Franklin newspaper on Feb. 16 and Feb. 23, 2026 to satisfy advertising requirements. Bids will be opened on March 5, 2026, and the board plans to award the purchase at the public supervisors meeting on March 18, 2026. The board recorded the vote on both motions as unanimous: Supervisors Kerry Jobe, Bob Zundel and Todd Paulich voted in favor.

The meeting adjourned at 12:00 p.m. The board also approved a motion (moved by Supervisor Todd Paulich and seconded by Supervisor Bob Zundel) to hold a public hearing on Feb. 18, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7:00 p.m., at the Salem Township Municipal Building.
