Belvidere CUSD 100’s board approved multiple administrative contracts on June 15, confirming hires the district said would fill leadership roles beginning in July.
The board approved a 12-month contract for Douglas Mitchell as high school principal effective July 1, 2026; board members noted Mitchell encountered travel difficulties and agreed to introduce him when he arrived. Board members also approved a 10-month contract for Jolene Miller as assistant principal at Central Middle School, effective July 1, 2026; Miller introduced herself to the board and said she is coming from Indian Creek School District and has local ties to Belvidere. The board also approved an 11-month contract for Peter Schmidnecke as secondary special education supervisor (start July 2026); Schmidnecke described prior experience in McHenry County-area districts.
Board action: motions to approve the contracts were moved and seconded by board members (motions passed on roll-call votes). The board welcomed the incoming administrators and directed staff to introduce them formally when they were present.
Why it matters: these hires fill key building- and program-level leadership roles that affect curriculum, staff oversight and special-education programming. The board and administrators emphasized welcoming the new leaders and integrating them into district planning ahead of the new school year.
What’s next: the contracts take effect July 1, and administrators said they will begin transition and onboarding activities over the summer.
