Belvidere CUSD 100’s board on June 15 approved awarding its employee-benefit broker and consulting services contract to Gallagher following a competitive review and interviews.
Mrs. Armstrong told the board the insurance committee (an employee-led committee that included representatives from each employee group, with administrative staff as advisory members) reviewed bids and interviewed finalists. "Gallagher was the least expensive at $80,000 annually," she said, noting the next two bids were about $95,000 and $99,600. She said Gallagher will expand education and wellness offerings for staff and that the contract creates a tangible set of deliverables the district can hold the broker accountable for.
Board action: Member Hemke moved to award the contract; Member Young seconded. The motion passed on roll call.
Why it matters: the contract covers broker and consulting services that affect how the district designs and communicates health-insurance options, wellness programming, and potential plan changes (including HRAs/HSAs). Mrs. Armstrong said rebates from pharmacy benefit management are beginning to generate credits and that staff are continuing to evaluate plan options for September enrollments.
Next steps: staff said they will implement the contract terms, expand staff education and orientation offerings, and continue evaluating longer-term health-plan strategy for FY27.
