Windsor Select Board approves transfer station schedule changes, addresses Town Hall use and manager search

The Windsor Select Board on Aug. 19 approved several operational adjustments for the Transfer Station and discussed Town Hall use and the process to fill the town manager vacancy.
Public Works reported removal of rotten oak trees on Barton Road at an approximate cost of $3,600. Transfer Station business included confirmation of a new hire expected to start on Friday, Aug. 22, or Saturday, Aug. 23 (Allison Whynot to confirm). The board recorded that Transfer Station employees who were scheduled to work on Aug. 16 — the day the station was closed for Highland Games — will be paid for that day. The board also set early closings at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23 and Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, to accommodate Windsor Fair traffic; staff will use the remainder of those days for clean-up.
The board discussed an instance in which Town Hall had been used for a for‑profit event that the minutes say was signed off by the former town manager for her daughter’s event. The Select Board noted that written rules do not allow for-profit events and said it will leave approval of upcoming events and reservations to the discretion of office staff until further notice; staff will be made aware if rules change.
On recruitment, the Select Board reviewed names for the open Town Manager position and agreed that resident and staff panel interviews will be scheduled once the candidate list is narrowed. The board also addressed a May 15 letter from the Long Pond Association and deferred the matter to Greg Feltis, Assistant Code Enforcement Officer; there was no update on the item listed as 'Double Eagle.'
The board thanked speakers and moved on to other agenda items; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 26, 2025.
