Southampton committee authorizes TWA application for Middlesex Water tank replacement

The Southampton Township Committee on April 21 authorized the Township Administrator to execute a TWA application for Middlesex Water Company to replace an equalization tank at the Newbolds Corner sanitary sewer plant. The plan was presented to the committee by Brian Carr, vice president of engineering for Middlesex Water Company, and Joe Bongiovanni of Jacobs Engineering.
Carr and Bongiovanni said the replacement is a like‑for‑like improvement and will not increase the plant’s treatment capacity. Administrator Parker McCay Brandon Umba described the paperwork and permit steps required for the project.
The Committee adopted Resolution 2026‑62 at the meeting by roll call vote; Committeemen Arnold Harrison and Ronald Heston, Deputy Mayor Elizabeth Rossell and Mayor William Raftery all voted in the affirmative.
No members of the public spoke in objection during the presentation. The resolution authorizes staff to proceed with the TWA application; the permit application itself and any subsequent construction would be subject to required state review and local oversight.
