The City Council received a staff report and first reading of Ordinance 28‑37, which would amend Enumclaw’s municipal code to change development standards in the airport zoning district.
Senior planner Winston Larson told the council the ordinance would reduce minimum side-yard setbacks in the airport zoning district from 20 feet to 10 feet and would amend a footnote to allow a maximum accessory-structure height of 18 feet where the airport zoning district abuts residential zones. Larson said the changes implement aspects of the city’s 2024 comprehensive plan, ensure compatibility with aviation operations, and reflect the planning commission’s recommendation to approve the amendments.
Larson outlined the council’s options: adopt the ordinance as presented, reject it and direct staff to continue review, or modify and adopt as amended. Following the staff presentation, the council opened and then closed the public hearing; no on‑the-record public testimony was recorded for this item during the hearing portion.
Staff indicated the proposed amendments originated from a January request and were included in the council‑approved 2026 work plan; the planning commission reviewed the draft on April 23, 2026 and recommended approval.
The item was presented for first reading; council did not take final action at this meeting.
