Mount Gilead Village Council voted on several routine items during its regular meeting and recorded unanimous approvals on key housekeeping measures.
The council approved Ordinance 2019, the final reading to codify the village ordinances, by roll call. Council members voting "Yes" included Bears, Carey, Clines, Johnson, Phillips and Sherborn, according to the clerk's roll call.
The assembly also voted to suspend the reading and adopt Ordinance 2024, supplemental appropriations; the motion passed with the same recorded "Yes" votes. In fiscal reports earlier in the meeting the fiscal officer presented a bills total of $650,389.62 for the month, which council moved to approve by roll call.
Council passed Resolution 4 20 26 (final reading), adopting a credit-card policy; the clerk noted a minor agenda error but the policy vote proceeded and passed unanimously.
Separately, the council moved Resolution 5 18 26, authorizing the police chief to enter into a contract to purchase a Parrot drone, to its second reading rather than approving it immediately. During discussion Chief Phillips confirmed the unit "can take video and still pictures" and said the department plans to have staff certified before operational use.
What's next: The drone authorization will return for subsequent readings before final purchase; the adopted ordinances and resolution are effective as recorded by the clerk. The council scheduled a tax-budget meeting for June 15 during a regular meeting and adjourned with no further action.
