Select Board accepts transfer-station trailer bid, authorizes tax refund and names interim CEO

At its April 7 meeting the Dresden Select Board handled several routine administrative items: it accepted the highest bid of $1,257.53 from Jeffrey Baker for a utility trailer at the transfer station, authorized a reimbursement for a duplicate tax payment and appointed Sarah Moore as interim CEO while CEO Greg is out beginning April 21.

The motion to accept the transfer-station trailer bid was made by Jeff Bickford and seconded by Keith Allen; the motion passed. Separately the board approved reimbursing a taxpayer who made a duplicate tax payment; Jeff Bickford moved and Keith Allen seconded a motion to reimburse approximately $1,900, with Nicole Rogers directed to issue a check for the exact amount.

With CEO Greg scheduled to be out starting April 21, the board voted to appoint Sarah Moore as interim CEO during that period; the motion was made by Jeff Bickford and seconded by Keith Allen.

Town Administrator Nicole Rogers reported two candidates for an office internship through a Maine program and said she may conduct interviews prior to selecting a candidate. Rogers also raised the town's out-of-date fee schedule and noted the Select Board has authority, per a prior town vote, to adjust fees up to 5% per year; she cited solar project permitting as an example where the $25 permit fee may be insufficient for staff time.

The minutes also record a report from Mark Scribner alleging trucks servicing a residential area are coming from a non-permitted gravel pit adjacent to Heather Beasley’s pit; board members discussed signage and contacting the state as options.
