Dresden Recreation Committee nominates Alan Moeller as vice chair, outlines spring events and volunteer recognition

The Dresden Recreation Committee on March 6 nominated committee member Alan Moeller to serve as vice chair and discussed spring programming and volunteer recognition.
The nomination of Alan Moeller was moved by Paul Tunkle and seconded by Elizabeth Sylvester and approved unanimously. Earlier in the meeting the committee also approved the minutes of the prior meeting (moved by Elizabeth Sylvester, seconded by Paul Tunkle, approved unanimously).
Members discussed several volunteer recognition ideas for Volunteer Month in April and Volunteer Week (April 20–26), including a potluck, a recognition ceremony, letters or certificates, select-board recognition, recognition at Summerfest, and press releases via the communicator, Facebook and local newspapers. Dale Dorr will again lead a spring bird watch as part of trails programming.
On RSU #2 representation, committee members suggested Holly Morgan as a replacement for Jeff Bickford on the RSU #2 board. Peter Walsh reported trustees at St. John’s support the Friends of St. John’s work; a building committee is being developed and a handicap ramp will be installed before the March 16 concert. St. John’s upcoming events include a March 16 St. Patrick’s Concert, March 30 Crystal Bowls, April 6 Mainly Harmony and a May Dresden Music Jam.
The committee said it needs someone to coordinate Summerfest (including children’s activities) and recommended using local musicians rather than hiring outside groups. No school activities were reported. The committee set its next meeting for the first Thursday in April at 6:30 p.m. and adjourned.
