Dresden Recreation Committee authorizes repaint and new fence for Bridge Academy pickleball courts

The Dresden Recreation Committee on March 6 authorized volunteers to repaint two pickleball courts at the Bridge Academy and to install a new 6-foot chain-link fence around three sides of the courts.

Committee member Elizabeth Sylvester told the committee that volunteers had created two courts and that the Bridge Academy supported children using the courts after school Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. She requested permission to purchase 25 gallons of paint for $600 and to replace the current fence with a new chain-link fence, describing the fence as 6 feet high with 10-foot posts driven 3 feet into the ground and posts spaced about 6 feet apart.

Sylvester reported the pickleball account held $2,245, including $245 in donations from last year, and that completing the project would require $2,750 total. The committee agreed the additional $500 would be covered by user fees. A motion "Elizabeth is authorized as a representative of the Recreation Committee to inform the Bridge Academy Trustees that volunteers will paint the pickleball court, paint will cost $600 from the Bridge Academy pickleball fund. The Recreation Committee will also create a new chain link fence around the court, 6 feet high, with 10-foot posts driven into the ground 3 feet, 6 feet apart. A chain link fence around three sides will be approximately 140 feet. Fencing will be $1,650 plus the cost of 22 10-foot posts, estimated at $500 for a total of $2,750." was moved by Elizabeth Sylvester, seconded by Alan Moeller and approved unanimously.

The committee recorded that volunteers will supply labor. Sylvester was authorized to notify the Bridge Academy Trustees of the plan and the committee will collect $500 through user fees to close the budget gap. The committee did not set a firm construction schedule in the meeting; volunteers and the Bridge Academy Trustees will coordinate implementation.
