Dresden Select Board approves minutes and warrants; schedules DEEC workshop and reviews roads, fire and community events

The Dresden Select Board opened its March 10 meeting at Pownalborough Hall and approved the Feb. 24, 2026 minutes (motion: Keith Allen; second: Jeff Bickford) and current AP and payroll warrants (motion: Jeff Bickford; second: Lisa Hewitt). The minutes record both approvals as "so voted" but do not provide vote tallies.
The board confirmed its next regular meeting on March 24 at 5 p.m. and noted that SB workshops are usually held on off Wednesdays at 10 a.m. at the town office; the board said workshop dates will be posted on the town website and office sign. Jeff Bickford reported that the DEEC chair resigned; the committee nominated Leah Bickford to return as chair and requested a Select Board workshop to review and streamline the committees eight-page charter.
On town operations, Ernie reported the transfer station and recycling operations had a successful DEP inspection with only a few follow-up items; he noted fire extinguishers need updated monthly tags (Affordable Fire Protection handles testing) and said he expected to obtain replacements. Fire Department updates included scheduled training and that the ladder truck is in for service; the department added two new members this month. Road Commissioner Allan Moeller reported the town is in mud season with multiple frost heaves and said he had raised a possible detour route with neighboring Woolwich officials. Allan also referenced a recurring "Jake Brake" noise complaint and said he had spoken with property owners to ask them to address driver behavior.
Community updates included Recreation Committee plans for SummerFest on July 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pownalborough Courthouse and a Veterans' Memorial Committee baked-bean supper on March 28 from 5-7 p.m. to raise funds for flags and memorial-area needs.
Jeff Bickford moved to adjourn at 5:37 p.m.; Keith Allen seconded and the motion carried (recorded as "so voted").
