The Dresden Recreation Committee on Dec. 4 finalized plans for upcoming holiday events, confirming coordination for the tree lighting, Santa’s appearance and logistics for the Downeast Brass Holiday Concert.
Allan is coordinating the tree lighting with Fire Chief Darren Delano, and Wayne McCoy will again appear as Santa. The committee asked Peter Walsh to compile a checklist to guide future events; David (recorded in the minutes) developed an insert for the Communicator and will take photos to share with local newspapers. The Veterans Committee will host a table at the tree lighting and state police were notified and may be stationed along Route 27 to assist with traffic or security.
For the Downeast Brass concert, volunteers agreed to decorate St. John’s at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and permission has been received to use the town office and post office parking lots for attendees. Dave Probert will plow adjacent to the church and shovel the walk between the post office and town office parking lots. Cookies and drinks will be available at intermission; volunteers were invited to help.
The committee recorded these plans as part of its regular event coordination and did not record formal votes for the logistical approvals.
