The Dresden Recreation Committee discussed a proposal to resurface the Bridge Library basketball court so it could be used for both basketball and pickleball, committee notes show.
Elizabeth (committee member) said the Recreation Committee would like to help organize fundraising and provide energy for the project but made clear the committee cannot be responsible for paying for the upgrades at this time because of broader budgetary constraints. The committee supports the concept, subject to funding.
The meeting notes include measurements and a cost estimate for resurfacing: the court measures 48 by 70 feet with a 2-inch resurfacing material. Material was estimated at about $8,000, with an additional $2,200 for hand work or labor, for a total estimated cost of $10,200. Committee members said funds would be placed in the library account used for maintenance fees and outdoor recreation maintenance if fundraising proceeds.
Members discussed taping pickleball lines on the school multipurpose room floor for community use and the possibility of fencing around the outdoor court, but they did not record a firm funding source or timeline for construction during the meeting.
