Dresden committee approves plan to help resurface Bridge Academy basketball court, starts student pickleball lessons

Estimated costs are $8,000 for materials and $2,200 for hand work and labor, for a total estimated cost of $10,200.
Separately, the committee confirmed that Dresden Elementary School students will learn to play pickleball in December. Volunteers marked two courts in the school multipurpose room and Mary Walsh, Elizabeth Sylvester and Peter Walsh are scheduled to help students on Wednesday, Dec. 10. Committee members said that in January the markings will be removed and one court will remain in the center of the room to preserve space for adult play; availability will be publicized.
The recreation committee approved the resurfacing proposal with adjustments; the minutes recorded the committee’s approval but did not record a mover, seconder or formal vote tally. The committee emphasized that its role is to support fundraising and volunteer coordination rather than to fund the work directly.
Next steps: Sylvester will present the proposal to the Bridge Library Board of Trustees, and the committee will assist with outreach and fundraising if the board accepts the proposal.
