St. John’s meetinghouse reported structurally sound but needs new roof and siding

A structural engineer who inspected St. John’s meetinghouse reported that the building is structurally sound, committee members said at the Nov. 6 meeting.
The committee noted the ramp is up to code and that Mason Dubord will repair the granite steps. Members identified a need for a new roof and painting or siding to protect the structure. Peter Walsh said he met with Shannon Gilmore to explore collaborating with the Lincoln County Historical Association on lectures or programs, including ideas tied to the Ken Burns documentary series and local history.
Committee members also said four or five events were held at the church last year and organizers expect those groups to return this year. The committee did not record a funding commitment or timeline for the roof and siding work during the meeting notes.
