Austintown trustees declare three properties public nuisances under Ohio law

The Austintown Township Board of Trustees on March 2 adopted a nuisance resolution ordering abatement at three properties and invoking enforcement provisions of state law.
By Resolution #26-03-02-05, moved by Chairperson Robert Santos and seconded by Trustee Monica Deavers, the board identified the following parcels as public nuisances under Ohio Revised Code 505.87: 3647 Monaca Avenue (Parcel 48-001-083.00-0) for junk and debris in the driveway; 4321 Nottingham Avenue (Parcel 48-104-0-164.00-0) for a couch stored at the curb in an exposed manner; and 4255 Woodmere Drive (Parcel 48-095-0-070.00-0) for junk and debris stored in the rear yard behind the west side of the garage. The roll call vote was unanimous.
The resolution orders property owners to abate or control the nuisances within seven days of adoption, or within four days for a repeat violation occurring within 12 months. If owners fail to act, the township will provide for abatement and charge expenses to the property, with a minimum expense entry of $500 and a lien placed on the tax duplicate from the date of entry.
Zoning Inspector Dominic Moltchan advised residents to contact the Zoning Department or the police non-emergency number with concerns about door-to-door solicitation; no additional enforcement timeline beyond the seven- and four-day windows was specified in the minutes.
