The Castine Selectboard met with School Board members Kate Kana and Danielle Morgioni and Principal Fred Cole, and later with Library Board trustees Casey Bernard, Marc Scoppettone and Angela Fisher and Library Director Nick Berry, for preliminary budget discussions on Jan. 13, 2025.
The meetings began at about 4:00 PM during the town's work session at Emerson Hall. The minutes describe the sessions as preliminary discussions of the school and library budgets; no formal motions, votes or adopted figures were recorded in the work-session minutes.
School representatives were present to review budget priorities and to give the Selectboard an early look at planning assumptions for the coming fiscal year. Library trustees and the library director likewise presented preliminary budget items to inform the Selectboard's budgeting process.
The meetings were informational: the minutes do not record any directive, adopted plan or specific dollar figures. The Selectboard, school and library representatives appear to have used the work session to align on timelines and outstanding questions that will shape later budget hearings and formal votes.
