The Bardstown City Council on May 26 approved two measures to support industrial development. First, the council authorized allocating up to $3,000,000 from the city toward purchase of land for an industrial park and authorized the mayor or his designee to execute the necessary documents to acquire the land in conjunction with Nelson County Fiscal Court and BIDC. Councilman Bill Sheckles moved the allocation; Councilman Roland E. Williams seconded and the motion carried 6-0.
Second, the council approved Resolution R2026-03 authorizing borrowing $5,000,000 from Salt River Electric Cooperative for industrial development purposes. Councilwoman Betty Hart moved the resolution; Councilman Franklin Hibbs, IV seconded and the resolution carried 6-0.
Both actions were recorded as unanimous among the six council members present. The meeting minutes state the authorizations but do not include details on specific parcels, timelines for acquisition, or the terms of the Salt River Electric Cooperative loan; those details would appear in subsequent documents or agreements.
