DeWitt Finance Committee recommends FY2026-27 budget after reviewing five-year and fire department materials

The DeWitt Finance Committee voted unanimously Monday to recommend the city's fiscal year 2026-27 budget and spending plan to the City Council after reviewing a five-year budget recap that included material for the fire department.
City Administrator Daniel Coss reviewed the proposed FY2026-27 budget for all city funds and told the committee the document "recommends a work program and financial plan for operating the City of DeWitt from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027." Coss thanked staff for their work compiling a fiscally constrained plan that preserves current services.
Council Member Denise Donohue moved to recommend approval of the FY2026-27 budget and spending plan to the City Council; Council Member Trevor VanDyke seconded the motion, which carried by unanimous vote of the Finance Committee. Earlier in the meeting the committee also approved the agenda and the March 16, 2026 meeting minutes by unanimous votes.
During the meeting the committee recessed from 7:52 p.m. to 7:55 p.m.; the record shows Council Member Denise Donohue briefly left at 7:55 p.m. and returned at 8:18 p.m. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m. following a motion by Council Member Jennifer Whitman, seconded by Council Member Sheryl Landgraf.
The recommendation will be forwarded to the full City Council for consideration; no public comments were recorded during the Finance Committee meeting.
