Bench and picnic-table orders face long lead times (seven to nine weeks), and members discussed coordinating concrete pad pours with other town concrete work to reduce costs.
Because municipal rules require sealed bids for projects above $15,000, the committee identified two items likely to require sealed bids: the pickleball courts and a planned 30-space parking lot. Town staff will prepare bid documents; the committee emphasized that confirmed timelines for pickleball work are needed so contractors can price work accurately for the intended season rather than next year.
Funding timing is a near-term constraint. Staff signaled a preference to obligate as much of the committee’s roughly $550,000 allocation as possible before Nov. 1 so leftover funds can be reallocated. That timeline will influence when the committee and staff place orders and issue bids.
Next steps: committee members will provide primary contact information to Josh for quick questions, finalize bench styles and locations with the contractor, and await bid posting for the pickleball courts. The committee agreed to tentatively schedule a late-July check-in to monitor progress and to keep periodic emailed updates between meetings.
