Council approves several property items, greenlights safety sign and notes public‑works progress

At the June 9 meeting, the Waite Hill Council received a series of planning, safety, and service updates. Abby Hiltsley, representing the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Architectural Board of Review, reported that a landscaping plan and garage screening are required for a property on Eagle Road, that a Creawood Forest property must add trees and additional landscaping, that a pool house on Metcalf Road was approved, and that a generator relocation on Smith Road was approved; an Eagle Road addition proposal will require the project’s architect to attend the next commission meeting before a vote.
Stephanie Winterer, on behalf of the Safety Committee, said there were more assists than usual, a baby eagle was found and rescued, and a Rollin Road resident reported credit card fraud. The village will install a solar‑powered flashing “dangerous intersection” sign that was mostly paid for with a NOPEC grant. Service Director Bob Haynik reported the salt shed has been completed, ground cover was planted in the cemetery following stump removal, road repairs are needed on Eagle Road while traffic is being studied, Norway Spruce trees are being planted in front of Village Hall, and fences along Eagle and Hobart Roads will be repaired.
The Charter Review Commission update noted a final meeting set for June 20, 2025, and four proposed charter amendments to appear on the November ballot.
