The Cedarville City Council on July 16 approved a school resource officer (SRO) contract for the 2024–2025 school year and voted to increase the fire department's 2024 budget by $20,000. Both measures passed unanimously, 4-0.
Treasurer Sandy Cook presented the June month-end balances and the July financial report, which the council approved on a motion by Alderman Odom, seconded by Alderman Saddler. After the financial review, Mayor Deborah Pinkerton asked the council to boost the fire department budget. Alderman Odom moved to increase the 2024 fire department appropriation by $20,000 from the General reserve; Alderman Johnson seconded and the motion passed 4-0.
Mayor Pinkerton then presented Resolution #2024-07-16-01 to approve the SRO contract for the coming school year. Alderman Breshears questioned wording in the resolution indicating the SRO duties differed from prior arrangements; Attorney Brister responded that the contract text spelled out those differences. Alderman Odom moved to approve the resolution, Alderman Johnson seconded, and the council approved it 4-0.
The file for the council meeting records the motions and unanimous votes on routine minutes, the financial report, the SRO contract, and the fire budget increase. The council adjourned after completing its agenda.
