Pennridge commission reorganizes leadership, accepts resignation and authorizes $25,000 grant for body/in-car cameras

The Pennridge Regional Police Commission on Jan. 28 reorganized its leadership, unanimously electing Jay Keyser as chair, Hal Schirmer as vice-chair and Gary Volovnik as secretary, and adopted Resolution 2026-01 acknowledging appointments and reappointments.
The commission also approved its consent agenda, which included payment of bills totaling $103,802.64, and accepted the resignation of Officer Zachery Koerper effective Dec. 31, 2025. On motions noted in the minutes, all listed actions passed with all members present voting in favor.
Chief Paul T. Dickinson Jr. told the commission the department had received a $25,000 DCED LSA grant to purchase Motorola in-car and body-worn cameras and said he would research the total cost of the purchase, including long-term subscription costs and video cloud storage. The commission authorized Chief Dickinson and Commissioner Hal Schirmer to execute the grant paperwork to accept the award.
Commissioner Jim Nietupski also urged the commission to consider additional signage on Ridge Road to identify the headquarters driveway, citing visibility concerns at night. The public meeting adjourned at 5:16 p.m. and the commission convened an executive session to discuss personnel matters.
