Valley View council adopts claims ordinances, accepts rock-salt bid and authorizes multiple purchase orders

Valley View council on Sept. 9 approved routine finance measures and several procurement actions during a meeting that also included public comment on Alexander Road reconstruction.
Council suspended the rules and passed Ordinance 2025-9-1 (to pay certain July 2025 claims) and Ordinance 2025-9-2 (to pay certain August 2025 claims) on unanimous roll-call votes. The council also passed Ordinance 2025-9-3, accepting a bid from Cargill, Inc. for purchase and delivery of rock salt for the 2025–2026 snow season; the ordinance was declared an emergency and approved 5–0.
On resolutions, the council passed Resolution 2025-9-4 accepting amounts and rates as determined by the budget commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies, and Resolution 2025-9-5 requesting the county fiscal officer to make tax advances of real estate tax revenues collected during 2026; both resolutions passed by roll call (5–0). Clerk-Treasurer Snyder supplied cash reports for periods ending July 31 and August 30, 2025.
On finance motions, Councilwoman Jakubczak moved and council approved three items: a $25,000 addition to the annual purchase order for C & K Industrial Services, Inc., for video inspection and sewer jetting (second half of the year); $18,000 for the 2025 boys and girls basketball program; and authorization for Engineer Sciano to accept a $17,940 proposal from Valley View Cement Contractors for concrete pavement and drive apron repairs on Strathmore Drive. All three finance motions passed unanimously.
Law Director Lambros noted that the liquor-permit notice the village received listed every business with a permit; Police Chief Niro reported no issues and the council recorded no objections to renewals. Council adjourned at 7:11 p.m.
