Fairview Park Civil Service Commission elects Jennifer Kramer as chair after longtime commissioner resigns

The Fairview Park Civil Service Commission met Jan. 29, 2026, at City Hall and moved to fill leadership changes after a long-serving member resigned.
Commissioner Roland DeMonte opened the meeting at 6:05 p.m. and shared an email from Pete Evanko announcing his resignation. The minutes record that Evanko served since Dec. 3, 1979; the commission also formally thanked him for 46 years of service.
Mayor Bill Schneider introduced James Barker as the mayoral appointee to replace Evanko. Barker summarized his background as an information-technology professional with Parker Hannifin.
Commissioner DeMonte nominated Commissioner Jennifer Kramer as chairperson for the 2026 calendar year, and Commissioner James Barker seconded the motion; the record in the meeting materials lists Jennifer Kramer as the commission chair. Commissioner Kramer moved to approve the minutes of the June 3, 2025 meeting; Commissioner DeMonte seconded and the minutes were approved.
DeMonte said he also will resign from the commission at a future time but will remain on the panel until a replacement is found. The commission recorded appreciation for Evanko’s decades of service.
The commission set its next meeting for Wednesday, March 25 at 6 p.m.
