Fairview Park council approves emergency reallocation to pursue new service site and passes contracts for IT, equipment

Fairview Park’s City Council on Feb. 2 passed a package of measures that included an emergency reallocation of funds to pursue a new service-department site and final approval of several city contracts and purchases.
The council voted to suspend procedural rules and adopt Ordinance 26-11, authorizing the mayor to reallocate funds awarded to the city for the Fairview Park public facility regional environmental improvement plan to cover the purchase price of a new service-department location and related design costs. Council members voted to suspend the three-reading requirement and then approved the ordinance on a roll-call vote.
Council also amended and adopted Ordinance 26-01, which authorizes the mayor to enter into a managed IT services contract with Simbay LLC. Councilwoman Greenfield moved to add terms and conditions to Exhibits A and B; the amendment passed and the ordinance was adopted on final passage.
Separately, the council adopted Ordinance 26-02, authorizing the purchase of a trailer-mounted message sign and an arrow board for the service department. The finance committee had previously advanced Ordinance 26-07, a lease financing agreement with Huntington Public Capital Corporation to finance two vehicles for $300,000 total; that ordinance was placed for final consideration after committee.
All final passage roll calls were recorded by the clerk. No formal dissent was recorded on the emergency reallocation or the contracts as passed.
What’s next: Ordinance 26-11 takes effect as an emergency measure per the ordinance language on the agenda; council members said they expect to follow up with additional details about the service-department site as procurement and design work proceed.
