The Italian Village Commission approved a signage package for a multi-tenant building on Summit Street while conditioning the approval on additional imagery and staff review of materials.
Neils Braum of Sign Comp. presented the proposal for three new signs: a large non-illuminated wall sign for one tenant, a projecting blade sign for Prime Street Food and an externally illuminated wall sign. Staff recommended approval of COA2600410 with conditions limiting tenant signage to the tenant space and requiring any illumination specifications be provided to staff prior to certificate issuance.
Commissioners and staff debated the best placement for the Italian Village Market sign relative to a new screen wall, whether the Prime Street Food blade sign’s bright yellow branding should be toned down to better match the historic façade, and whether the building contains two distinct tenants (occupancy confirmation was requested). The commission approved COA2600410 with the conditions that: (1) additional imagery superimposed on current photos showing the exact location of the Italian Village Market sign on the screen wall be submitted to staff; (2) color samples for the Prime Street Food blade and wall signs be provided for staff review; and (3) staff will confirm that the amount of signage is appropriate given the occupancy/tenant status.
Next steps: the applicant will provide photos and color choices to staff for approval so the sign locations and materials can be finalized without a return to the full commission.
