Residents press trustees for clearer park hours and stronger enforcement after complaints

Other residents, including those speaking for the Washingtonville Neighborhood Association, said parks are valuable to local families and asked the board to balance enforcement with keeping courts available as weather permits. Residents flagged deteriorating playground equipment at Harbor Island and called for capital investment; one liaison said the volleyball summer league generates about $20,000 in program revenue and the village should replace lost sand courts displaced by the spray pad.
Trustees and staff said they will coordinate with police on enforcement and with the parks and recreation commission on repairs and capital priorities; staff also noted many park‑policy decisions require resourcing and may appear in the capital or operating budget process.
