The Village of Mamaroneck Board of Trustees on Feb. 10 scheduled a public hearing for March 10, 2025 on a proposed downzoning of Washingtonville that would change areas currently zoned for up to four‑family dwellings to an R‑2 designation limiting future development to single‑ and two‑family homes.
Staff and trustees emphasized the zoning change must be reviewed by land‑use boards for environmental impacts and other consequences before the trustees take final action. Some residents asked whether the hearing could be moved earlier if land‑use boards sign off before Feb. 24; trustees said the timing depends on those boards’ calendars and required documentation.
The board also circulated PLLE 2025, an amendment to permit pet‑care facilities in C‑2 and to align special‑permit and parking requirements with those for animal hospitals. The change adds a parking requirement of one space per employee on site and leaves additional site‑specific requirements to the planning board’s special‑permit review.
Trustees said they will distribute materials and responses to land‑use boards’ questions to the board for transparency ahead of the March hearing.
