The Cabot School District Board of Education voted 6-0 on May 13, 2026, to approve a personnel packet that lists certified and classified retirements, resignations, transfers and new hires. Board President James Hertzog called the special meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.; board members Pam Clem, Sally Beebe, Joe Trusty, Blake Lively and Sarah Owen were present and Kevin Tipton was absent.
The approved personnel recommendations include certified retirements such as Peggy Magdaleno, Junior High North math teacher, and John Shirron, Freshman Academy assistant principal, both listed with effective dates of June 30, 2026. The certified section of the packet (SEG 002–SEG 005) records numerous resignations across schools and specialties, transfers and reassignments for the 2026–2027 school year, and a series of certified new hires for classroom, special education and extracurricular coaching positions. The packet notes that “all recommendations and hiring of licensed certified personnel are contingent on applicants completing all licensure requirements, as well as clearing their criminal background check and child maltreatment registry.”
The classified portion of the recommendations (SEG 006–SEG 007) lists classified retirements including Lisa Greenwood, Pre-K North secretary (effective 06/30/2026) and Lena Rye, technology secretary (12/31/2026), as well as multiple resignations, transfers and new classified hires. The classified hires are likewise contingent on required criminal-background and child-maltreatment registry clearances.
After an executive session, the board returned and took formal action. "The board voted to approve personnel as presented," the minutes state; the motion was made by board member Joe Trusty and seconded by board member Sarah Owen. The motion passed 6-0. The meeting adjourned at 5:41 p.m.
The personnel packet and the meeting minutes provide the full lists of affected positions and names; the district’s notation that approvals are contingent on licensure and background checks means some hires remain subject to administrative clearance before they take effect.
