Planning board approves fenced laydown area and shipping-container storage for Wadsworth Solutions

The Village of Valley View Planning Board on Sept. 16 approved variances allowing Wadsworth Solutions to establish a fenced laydown area with a shipping container and gravel surfacing at 7850 Hub Parkway.
Dave Krieger, Vice President of Operations for Lion’s Share (owner/operator of Wadsworth Solutions), told the board the company is nearly moved into the facility and proposes a partially fenced enclosure containing a Conex (shipping) container to keep material locked and out of view. "We do not want to stack them," Krieger said, adding that stored items would remain locked inside the containers and that they would not store flammable liquids on site.
Engineer Todd Sciano and Board members recommended the fence be at least as tall as the container, and Mr. Krieger agreed; the Board also recommended a gated entry and allowed black vinyl-coated chain link to improve appearance. Neighbor Randall Rosenlieb, present at the meeting, said he and the applicant had discussed landscaping and privacy screening and were satisfied with continued coordination.
The Board voted to approve a variance from the prohibition on outside storage (Ordinance §1252.06(a)), a variance for a gravel lay down area (Ordinance §1252.05(c)), and overall approval of a fenced enclosure amended to require black vinyl coating and a gate; the applicant was instructed to apply for a fence permit and comply with landscaping and permitting requirements.
What happens next: the applicant must submit a fence-permit application and final landscaping details for administrative review; Planning staff will verify compliance with the black vinyl coating condition and monitor any neighbor concerns.
