The Cushing Board of Selectmen on Jan. 9 approved routine warrants and a series of administrative items, including formalizing legal representation, reauthorizing town clerk duties and putting two foreclosed properties out to bid.
Selectman Daniel Staples moved to approve Warrant #47, #48, #1 and #2; the motion passed 5-0-0. The board also voted to approve the minutes of its Dec. 12, 2016 meeting; Martha Marchut abstained because she had not attended that meeting.
On appointments, the board unanimously approved formally retaining attorney Kristen Collins to serve as the town's attorney; Collins has been serving in that role informally. The board also appointed Tom LeBlond as Cushing’s Addressing Officer after Laurie Haynes identified two candidates who responded to the town’s notice.
Selectman Daniel Staples moved, and the board carried 5-0-0, to put two foreclosed properties (one listed as “by Cyrus Holmes” and another described as near the Warren line) out to bid. Town Clerk Lisa Young summarized her cash disbursement duties and the board voted 5-0-0 to continue Young in that capacity. The board reappointed Young as Registrar of Voters by unanimous vote.
The board signed the notice of election for RSU #13’s Feb. 28 ballot on school funding and related matters. The meeting concluded after an executive session; the board adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
Actions taken at the Jan. 9 meeting were procedural and administrative; no new municipal ordinances or long-term financial commitments were approved at the session.
