CUSHING — Selectboard Chair Cheryl Stackpole called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. on May 11, and the board moved quickly through routine business, approving a warrant and signing municipal appointments.
The board approved 2026 Warrant #18 after Selectboard member Tracey Bally moved and Craig Currie seconded the motion; the vote was recorded as 4-0-0. Members also approved the April 27 meeting minutes on a 4-0-0 vote after a motion from Craig Currie and a second from Craig Normand. Board members noted that payroll Warrant #19 will appear on the next agenda.
In an informational update under unfinished business, Selectboard member Craig Currie reported on a recent school budget meeting. Currie said the school budget as a whole increased by about 1 percent, but that the Town of Cushing will see an estimated 9 percent increase in its local share because of how the state funding formula allocates costs. The board did not take formal action on the school budget at this meeting; Currie presented the item as information for residents and future budget planning.
Under new business the board signed appointments for the town clerk, registrar and treasurer; the minutes note the appointments were signed but do not record a mover or a recorded roll-call on that item. A scheduled presentation by Bryann Prudhomme about Ampion Community Solar Farms did not occur; the minutes state Prudhomme "did not make it to the meeting" and will try to reschedule.
During the meeting’s close, resident Jack Matheson submitted a written FOAA request. Chair Cheryl Stackpole handed the request to Danika Poland, the recording secretary and designated FOAA officer, for processing. The board adjourned at 6:08 p.m. after a motion from Tracey Bally, seconded by Craig Currie; the motion carried 4-0-0.
The Selectboard’s minutes show no further votes or policy decisions at this meeting. Items expected back on future agendas include payroll warrant #19 and the rescheduled Ampion Community Solar Farms presentation.
