Enon council reviews park and water system work; $13,000 NatureWorks grant deposited

Administrator/staff member Kevin Siferd told the Village of Enon council on Jan. 4 that the village received the final NatureWorks grant payment and the related project is complete. “The check for $13,000 has been direct deposited into the Village's account,” Siferd said.
Siferd reported a chain-link fence replacement at the village park required an additional 76 feet of fencing because of an error in the original bid; the contractor agreed to charge the village only for materials on that extra length and not for labor. The park project is expected to be finished within days of the meeting.
Siferd described work on the village water system: the Cardinal water tower was drained, repaired, refilled and returned to service at an approximate cost of $11,000, including the installation of a stainless-steel band intended to stabilize the pipe and reduce the chance of recurrence. Booster Station Pump #1 has been transferred and a minor leak in a compression fitting was repaired; Pump #2’s transfer is scheduled for the following week.
On personnel, Siferd said the village hired two part-time Water Clerks: Tina Miller will work Wednesday through Friday and Pam Stapleton Monday and Tuesday. Council members were invited to stop by to meet the new hires.
Siferd also announced the 2024 Enon blood drive dates (Feb. 21; April 24; June 26; Aug. 28; Oct. 23; Dec. 18) and advised donors can sign up at donortime.com. The council did not take formal separate votes on these operational reports beyond routine approvals recorded elsewhere in the minutes.
