The Waynesville Village Council took two formal actions on June 2: it advanced a first reading on the Village’s 2026 annual tax budget resolution and approved a $2,500 donation for Fourth of July fireworks.
Finance Director and Clerk Jamie Morley said the 2026 budget will have a public hearing at the next meeting; the agenda included a resolution titled "Resolution No. 2025-020 A Resolution Approving the 2026 Annual Tax Budget for the Village of Waynesville and Declaring an Emergency." Mr. Colvin moved to have the first reading for the item (the motion text in the minutes refers to "Ordinance No. 2025-020"); Mrs. Miller seconded and the roll call vote was 6 yeas to advance the first reading. The council did not adopt a final budget at this meeting; a public hearing was scheduled for the next meeting.
Separately, Mrs. Miller moved to donate $2,500 to the American Legion to support village fireworks for the Fourth of July; Mr. Lauffer seconded and the council voted 6–0 to approve. The motion was recorded as approved by roll call (6 yeas).
Ms. Morley also reported that the Village will receive a $3,901.82 refund from the Auditor’s Real Estate Assessment Fees; she said the external audit is still being finalized.
Both items were acted on by roll call; no further appropriation details or budget totals were provided during the meeting.
